Mark your calendars for the 13th Annual Community Back-to-School Health/Educational Fair set to take place Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011. The fair will take place from 8 a.m. to noon on the College of Southern Nevada Cheyenne Campus, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave.; 89030.
More than 10,000 families – youth and parents – are expected to attend the event. Nevada Youth Alliance (NYA) President David Osman said more than 3000 students should be helped by the annual community event.
This year’s fair will feature the alliance’s traditional “Stuff-A-Pack” Campaign & Community Walk supported by donations of more than 3,000 back packs and various school supplies.
Additionally, the fair offers health checks, sports and regular physicals, immunizations and added, this year, FREE hair cuts. Various community educational programs and a myriad of vendors sharing health and educational information for the entire family will be on hand.
Sponsors working with NYA to make the event possible include the College of Southern Nevada Cheyenne Campus, Amerigroup Community Cares, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, LOWES, Three Square; Mexico Vivo Dance Company, University of Nevada School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, City of North Las Vegas Neighborhood Services, Nevada Health Centers, LUZ Coalition, OMEGA Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Helping Kids Clinic and many others.
